The substantial leaves are softly rounded and swollen through much of their length before tapering towards a small point, giving the plant a noticeably different form from many thinner-leaved Echeverias.

The foliage is predominantly pale blue-green to grey-green with a natural powdery bloom. Cream, pale yellow and soft pink tones can develop according to season, light and growing conditions, with blush colouring often becoming more noticeable towards the leaf tips.

Growing from Cuttings

'Choux Cream' is a hardy, easy-growing Echeveria that establishes readily from healthy cuttings. Before planting, check that the cut end of the stem has dried and formed a firm callus. Once sufficiently callused, plant into a free-draining succulent mix, positioning the stem deeply enough to hold the rosette securely.

Keep newly planted cuttings in bright, protected light while roots begin to establish, rather than placing them immediately into intense direct sun. Water cautiously during this initial period and avoid keeping the growing medium continuously wet before a functional root system has developed. Once established, the plant can be gradually introduced to brighter conditions.

The thick, moisture-filled leaves provide substantial stored reserves while the cutting is establishing. Once rooted, the rosette can continue developing into the substantial, thick-leaved form characteristic of the cultivar.

Excellent for Further Propagation

One of the characteristics we particularly value in 'Choux Cream' is how readily it propagates from its thick, fleshy leaves. Healthy mature leaves contain substantial reserves to support the development of new roots and growth, and in our nursery leaf propagation frequently produces multiple young rosettes from a single leaf rather than just one.

Leaf propagation can occasionally produce fasciated growth as well. In fact, our original 'Choux Cream' crested plants developed from individual leaves. This is not predictable with every leaf: leaf-propagated plants may develop a single rosette, produce multiple individual rosettes, become fasciated, or combine recognisable rosettes with crested growth.

Colour & Seasonal Changes

Young and established plants can change noticeably through the year. During active growth the foliage may be predominantly pale blue-green or grey-green, while suitable light and seasonal conditions can bring out increasingly creamy, pale yellow and soft pink tones. These colour changes are natural and will vary between individual plants and growing conditions.
