Aeonium ‘Red Sunny’ is a vibrant variegated cultivar of Aeonium arboreum cv. 'Red Sunny’, admired for its cheerful striping and striking architectural form. Its spoon-shaped leaves show a creamy-green centre with green margins that blush pink to red, particularly when grown in bright light. The colour contrast becomes more vivid under sun exposure, giving the plant a warm, sun-kissed effect that changes with the seasons.

This cultivar develops into a small, branching, tree-like succulent, with each stem ending in a dense rosette. Its bold variegation and compact growth make it an attractive feature in pots, mixed succulent arrangements, or as a focal point in the garden. Collectors value it for its distinctive colouration and reliable growth habit, which set it apart from other Aeonium arboreum varieties.

Caring for Aeonium ‘Red Sunny’ is straightforward. It thrives in bright light to full sun, where its red tones are at their most intense. In Australia, it performs best in frost-free areas with mild temperatures between 10–25 °C. Water moderately during the active growing season in winter and spring, then reduce watering in summer dormancy when the rosettes tighten. A free-draining succulent mix prevents waterlogging, and a light feed during the growing period can enhance colour and vigour.

As rosettes mature, tall conical clusters of star-shaped yellow flowers may appear in late winter to spring. After flowering, the individual rosette naturally dies back, but offsets continue to thrive, ensuring the plant renews itself season after season. With its painterly foliage and easy-care nature, Aeonium ‘Red Sunny’ is a rewarding choice for gardeners and collectors seeking colour and structure in their succulent displays.
