Aeonium haworthii 'Dream Color', commonly known as Aeonium 'Kiwi', is a very popular well known Aeonium that looks amazing in any garden or succulent collection. With a mature height of up to 90 cm and an equal width, this medium grower produces beautiful variegated rosettes that can reach up to 12 cm in diameter.
Aeonium 'Kiwi' is known for its green and yellow to gold leaves that turn red along the edges, particularly during the summer. However, it's important to note that the colour of the plant can vary considerably throughout the seasons, with the colours intensifying in summer and fading during severe dry spells.
Unlike many other succulents, Aeonium 'Kiwi' does not require stress to bring out its beautiful colors. In fact, the colors can become dull and faded during periods of severe drought, but they will reappear and become shiny again with regular watering.
Aeonium 'Kiwi' is a common garden plant that is often used in potted succulent collections. It is a tricolour version of Aeonium haworthii, with colors ranging from red to yellow to white and green depending on many factors. The plant offsets from the base and mid-stem and can creep along the ground to form wide mounds of up to 1 m.
In terms of care, Aeonium 'Kiwi' prefers full sun and well-drained soil with a composted loam. It should be watered infrequently during winter and spring and may go dormant in the summer, so reduce watering during this time. To maintain the plant's health, dead material and flower heads should be removed at the base of the stem, and any dead material beneath the plant should be cleared to prevent stem rot.
Propagation can be easily achieved through stem cuttings, while seed propagation is generally not viable and may result in reverted haworthii plants. Aeonium haworthii 'Dream Color' is a stunning plant that is sure to add a pop of color to any garden or succulent collection.
