Beautiful contrast of purple and pale green
Echeveria 'Rosita' – Korean Form is a compact rosette-forming Echeveria distinguished by its heavily farinated foliage and remarkable seasonal colour. During active, milder growth the leaves are predominantly powdery blue to blue-green with pink developing around the margins and tips. With colder conditions, the colour can intensify dramatically through violet, mauve and rich pink, while the heavy farina gives the foliage a soft, frosted and almost translucent appearance.
One of the most distinctive characteristics of 'Rosita' is its response to cooler conditions. In our nursery, cold winter weather can transform the predominantly blue-green foliage into strong violet-pink and mauve tones. The colour can extend across much of the leaf surface while deeper pink develops around the margins and pointed tips.
This seasonal change can be substantial. Plants grown during warmer periods may be considerably bluer and greener, often retaining just a pink blush around the leaf margins, while strongly coloured winter plants can appear predominantly pink to violet. Both appearances are normal stages of the same plant, with colour changing naturally according to season and growing conditions.
The leaves are covered with a pronounced layer of powdery farina, giving the rosette its characteristic frosted bloom. Against the blue, violet and pink pigmentation beneath, this coating can create an unusually soft, luminous appearance, particularly when the plant develops its strongest winter colour.
Farina is a natural protective wax and is best left undisturbed. Handling the leaves can mark or remove the powdery coating where they are touched, so plants are best handled by the pot or around the base whenever possible.
'Rosita' forms closely arranged, pointed leaves in a compact, symmetrical rosette and can produce offsets as it matures. The combination of structured growth, heavy farina and strong seasonal colour remains evident even when plants are not displaying their deepest winter tones.
In our nursery we have found 'Rosita' to be a hardy and forgiving Echeveria that establishes readily and grows reliably. Its compact growth and strong seasonal response make it an easy plant to maintain while allowing its appearance to change naturally through the seasons.
Grow in a free-draining succulent mix with good airflow and plenty of light. Adequate light helps maintain compact rosette growth and supports the development of stronger seasonal colour. As with other heavily farinated Echeverias, plants should be acclimatised gradually when moving into substantially stronger light or intense Australian summer sun.
Water thoroughly when required and allow the growing medium to dry appropriately between waterings. Avoid continuously wet conditions, particularly during cooler weather. Regular nutrition during active growth can support healthy foliage, root development and offset production.
'Rosita' can be propagated from offsets as they become available, allowing the characteristics of the parent plant to be maintained. Offsets can be separated once sufficiently developed and established individually in a free-draining succulent mix.

Succulents naturally change in colour, size and form throughout the year. Many develop richer colours and more compact growth during periods of seasonal stress, particularly through cooler months and brighter conditions, while warmer or lower-light conditions may produce greener, softer growth.
The plant you receive may therefore vary from the product images depending on the season, its stage of growth and current growing conditions. These natural variations are part of the character of living plants and do not affect their quality or health.
Pickup is available in Seville, Yarra Valley VIC by appointment. Order online as normal and any shipping charge will be automatically refunded after collection, unless you would prefer to receive an additional plant of similar value instead.
