Graptoveria 'avant-garde'

Sale price $16.50 Regular price $25.00

Graptoveria 'Avant-garde' is a stunning succulent hybrid created by Korean plant breeders Changjo and Air Magic. It is a cross between Graptopetalum amethystinum (Lavender Pebbles) and uncertain Echeveria species, resulting in chubby coral-red leaves that can fade to apricot-orange over time.

One of the most striking features of this succulent is its foliage coloration, which can become an intense pink when exposed to cooler temperatures or grown in bright, sunny locations. However, to maintain its vibrant colors, 'Avant-garde' needs to be grown hard in full sun, with minimal water once its roots are established.

This fast-growing succulent is drought-tolerant and can thrive in poor soil, making it a low-maintenance option for gardeners. It produces showy flowers that are under 1cm in size and is a perennial plant that can be propagated from stem or leaf cuttings.

'Avant-garde' is a great choice for xeriscaping or as a statement plant in a garden bed. Its hardy nature and ability to tolerate full sun make it perfect for Australian conditions. It is also suitable for hanging baskets and other containers.

Overall, Graptoveria 'Avant-garde' is a sought-after succulent that is perfect for adding color and texture to your garden or indoor space. With its unusual foliage color, low-maintenance requirements, and hardy nature, it is sure to be a standout addition to any collection.

Seasonal Colour & Plant Variation

Succulents naturally change in colour, size and form throughout the year. Many develop richer colours and more compact growth during periods of seasonal stress, particularly through cooler months and brighter conditions, while warmer or lower-light conditions may produce greener, softer growth.

The plant you receive may therefore vary from the product images depending on the season, its stage of growth and current growing conditions. These natural variations are part of the character of living plants and do not affect their quality or health.

Pickup Information

Pickup is available in Seville, Yarra Valley VIC by appointment. Order online as normal and any shipping charge will be automatically refunded after collection, unless you would prefer to receive an additional plant of similar value instead.

A very healthy plant and I can see the colour coming into it already

Graptoveria 'avant-garde'

Store owner replied: You are getting a collection going of these! Remember avant garde needs to be grown slow in bright light to produce the best colour and form. So give it only just enough food if any, to keep it healthy no more. A gritty mix helps and a longer dry spell between watering. Summer will reveal the deepest colours. Enjoy the metamorphosis!

I am thinking I might have received the wrong plant here, if you can let me know…I didnt think it would grow like this

Graptoveria 'avant-garde'

Store owner replied: This is definitely a Graptoveria Avant Garde, Irene. It has a clustering habit, like it's parent Lavender Pebbles and the colour is completely unique. It is quite unmistakeable when you get to know it.

Arrived yesterday. All plants healthy. Very pleased with the way they were wrapped. Thanks for the gift. Much appreciated. Certainly will recommend you to other growers. Liked the information sheets. First time I received anything like that with an order. Thanks.

I had to check and recheck this was the same plant, it was the one I was the most excited about because it was big and pink but it doesn’t look anything like the picture. Hoping the colour will change with the season

Graptoveria 'avant-garde'

Store owner replied: Hi Christie, The pink one is a display photo only, to show you the colour of this plant in summer. Being winter yours is more green. You need to grow it hard in bright light for it to turn pink. Hope this helps. Regards, John

This beauty only came today, was a but worried it may not make it but it arrived healthy

Graptoveria 'avant-garde'

Store owner replied: Yes, a bit touch and go with delivery times before Christmas! Some of our customesrs had their deliveries delayed for up to 2 weeks. Fortunately succulents are very resilient. As long as they are dried and packed properly they can last many weeks in the mail. Especially the chubbie ones like yours.
