Echeveria Fimbriata Fasciculata Crest is an extraordinary crested succulent, forming a densely folded mass of foliage rather than the more familiar symmetrical Echeveria rosette. Its sculptural growth and rich seasonal colouring give each plant an individual form that becomes increasingly interesting as the crest develops.

A Fascinating Crested Growth Form

The unusual structure is produced by fasciation, where the growing point develops along an elongated line rather than from a single point. Instead of producing one conventional rosette, the plant forms an expanding, often undulating crest lined with numerous closely packed leaves.

This can be seen particularly well in our plants, where the foliage follows the folds and curves of the crest, creating a compact mass of overlapping leaves. Because crested growth develops irregularly, individual plants naturally vary in shape and character.

Rich Burgundy and Red Colouring

The foliage combines deep green and burgundy tones, with the exposed surfaces and margins capable of developing much stronger red colouring. Cooler conditions and good light can intensify these colours, producing the particularly rich burgundy-red appearance seen in our photographs.

The underlying species, Echeveria fimbriata, is native to Mexico and is named for the finely fringed margins found on its young leaves. In the crested form, however, it is the extraordinary multiplication and arrangement of foliage along the crest that immediately commands attention.

Growing Echeveria Fimbriata Fasciculata Crest

Grow in bright light with good airflow and a very free-draining succulent mix. Allow the growing medium to dry well between waterings, particularly during cooler weather. Strong light helps maintain compact growth and richer colour, although plants should be introduced gradually to intense summer sun to reduce the risk of scorching.

As the crest enlarges, its irregular folds can create sheltered areas where moisture may linger, so good airflow and careful watering are particularly worthwhile. Its developing form makes this an excellent specimen for a feature pot where the unusual crest can be appreciated from different angles.
