Echeveria 'Pink Edge' Crest is a striking crested form of the popular Echeveria cultivar known for its sculptural elegance and distinctive colouration. Unlike the typical symmetrical rosette form, this crested version features undulating, fan-shaped growths that develop into dense, wavy ridges of foliage—each leaf showcasing a soft grey-blue base with vivid pink margins. These ornamental edges intensify in cooler months or with bright light exposure, lending a dynamic splash of colour to the intricate, coral-like structure of the plant.
Believed to be a hybrid of Echeveria shaviana and Echeveria colorata, Echeveria 'Pink Edge' inherits the graceful, powdery foliage and vibrant stress colouring associated with both species. The crested form is typically the result of a natural genetic mutation, which causes the growing point (apical meristem) to fan out instead of forming a central rosette. This mutation gives the plant an architectural, almost sculptural appeal prized by collectors and designers alike.
Best grown in full sun to part shade, 'Pink Edge' Crest appreciates bright conditions but should be shielded from harsh afternoon sun during extreme heat to avoid leaf burn. In-ground specimens are drought-tolerant once established, while potted plants require well-draining soil and drying out between waterings to avoid rot. During winter, mature plants may produce small, cheerful yellow blooms along upright flower stalks—adding further contrast to the already show-stopping foliage.
Ideal for pots, rockeries, or sculptural focal points in succulent gardens, Echeveria 'Pink Edge' Crest offers a unique blend of colour, form, and texture for the discerning plant enthusiast.
