Nematanthus strigillosus synonymous with Columnea nematanthus and commonly known as the Goldfish Plant is native to Brazil and usually an epiphyte in its natural environment. This small perennial branching plant has dark green, waxy, succulent leaves with the new growth a coppery red, adding a lovely contrast.
It is named Gold fish plant because of its beautiful golden flowers that resemble a gold fish. It does not like to be over watered but requires more water than most succulents and prefers dappled shade as the leaves will burn in full sun. It makes a great indoor plant when grown in bright light.
Nematanthus strigillosus is reportedly found growing up and down the east coast of Australia and will grow especially well in a warm humid environment. It will also grow in full shade providing the area is very well lit. We grow it quite well indoors on an eastern facing window sill where it gets morning sun only and also in our bathroom near a frosted glass window facing north where we find it grows best.
You will receive 3 well rooted cuttings as shown in image three. Enough to fill out a small decorative pot as shown in image 1 & 2. Ideal for your window sill or to keep outdoors.

- Due to the drying process necessary for sending plants through the mail, plants may look slightly different than images shown on our website
- Some plants, may look wrinkled when they arrive, may be somewhat limp, or soft to the touch. This is normal as they have been dried out for for a number of days before shipping to avoid rotting in the mail.
- Succulents are very hardy plants and they will recover quickly, providing you unpack them as soon as you receive them follow some simple care instructions you will find with your order.
