You will receive three healthy Othonna capensis variegated ‘Opal Necklace’ cuttings similar in size and quality to those shown in images 2 & 3. The first image shows an established plant for display purposes. Each cutting is carefully selected and supplied ready for planting.
Cuttings are individually selected to provide similar overall value to those shown in the product images. As size varies naturally, additional smaller cuttings may occasionally be supplied where necessary to provide equivalent value.

About Othonna capensis variegated ‘Opal Necklace’
Othonna capensis variegated ‘Opal Necklace’ is a colourful trailing succulent prized for its cream, green, pink, purple and reddish tones. Its variegated foliage gives the plant a lively, ever-changing appearance, with individual leaves and stems often displaying different combinations of colour as the plant develops.
The trailing growth habit makes ‘Opal Necklace’ especially well suited to hanging baskets, pots and raised containers where the stems can cascade naturally. As the plant establishes and branches, it gradually forms a fuller display with increasingly dense growth and stronger colour contrast.
Growing from Cuttings
Othonna capensis variegated ‘Opal Necklace’ is well suited to propagation from stem cuttings and generally establishes readily in suitable conditions. Starting with three cuttings allows you to plant them together for a fuller display from the outset or grow them separately to establish several plants.
Plant the cuttings into a free-draining succulent mix and keep them in a bright position while they establish. Water lightly at first, allowing the growing medium to dry between waterings. Once the cuttings are actively growing, they can be gradually exposed to stronger light to encourage compact growth and richer colour.
As new stems develop, the characteristic trailing habit becomes more pronounced and the variegation can become increasingly colourful. Cream, green, pink, purple and reddish tones may shift with light levels, temperature, watering and seasonal conditions, giving each plant its own individual appearance as it matures.

- All plants are sent bare rooted with no pots and soil, or minimum soil only.
- Due to the drying process necessary for sending plants through the mail, plants may look slightly different than images shown on our website
- Some plants, may look wrinkled when they arrive, may be somewhat limp, or soft to the touch. This is normal as they have been dried out for for a number of days before shipping to avoid rotting in the mail.
- Succulents are very hardy plants and they will recover quickly, providing you unpack them as soon as you receive them follow some simple care instructions you will find with your order.
