Haworthia mucronata
Haworthia mucronata is a compact South African succulent with soft, pointed leaves arranged into fresh green rosettes. The foliage ranges from pale green and yellow-green to deeper green, with brighter or drier conditions sometimes bringing subtle pink, bronze or reddish tones.
Soft, finely pointed foliage
The fleshy leaves taper to a distinct point and often carry fine translucent margins and delicate bristles or teeth. The prominence of these features varies naturally between plants and populations, contributing to the considerable variation seen within the species.
The leaves are softer and less rigid than those of many Haworthiopsis species, giving mature rosettes a particularly fresh, finely textured appearance.
Clustering growth
Haworthia mucronata produces offsets from around the base and can gradually form dense clusters of multiple rosettes. These can be left together to produce a substantial specimen or separated once sufficiently developed for propagation.
A variable South African species
Haworthia mucronata is native to South Africa, particularly the Little Karoo and adjoining areas of the Cape. It is naturally variable across its range, with differences in leaf size, colour, marginal bristles and overall rosette form.
Growing Haworthia mucronata
Grow in a free-draining succulent mix with bright filtered light and good airflow. Protection from intense Australian afternoon summer sun helps maintain healthy foliage, while adequate light encourages compact growth and attractive seasonal colour.
Water thoroughly when required, allowing the growing medium to dry appropriately between waterings. Avoid keeping the roots continuously wet.
Mature plants produce slender flower stems rising above the foliage and carrying small whitish flowers with darker greenish to brownish markings.

Pickup is available in Seville, Yarra Valley VIC by appointment. Order online as normal and any shipping charge will be automatically refunded after collection, unless you would prefer to receive an additional plant of similar value instead.
