Kalanchoe Tarantula, also known as Kalanchoe katapifa 'Tarantula', is a stunning new USA hybrid featuring a unique leaf shape and striking double crimson flowers. This plant's fascinating appearance is derived from its irregular, spidery leaves that resemble spider legs, hence the nickname 'Tarantula'. A moderately fast-growing succulent, Kalanchoe Tarantula can reach up to 30cm in height and width, making it an excellent choice for both indoor and outdoor gardens.

Blooming in late winter through mid-spring, Kalanchoe Tarantula showcases masses of long-lasting pink flowers that provide a delightful contrast to its intriguing foliage. The plant's hardiness makes it suitable for Australian climates, particularly in regions where temperatures do not dip below -1.1 to 4.4°C. For those living in colder areas, Kalanchoe Tarantula can be grown indoors as a beautiful houseplant.

Cultivating Kalanchoe Tarantula is a breeze, as it thrives in well-drained soil, enriched with inert minerals such as pumice, lapilli, or sand. This succulent is best suited for full sun to partial shade environments, enjoying a few hours of sunlight daily. When grown indoors, place it near a north facing window to receive adequate light.

Watering is minimal, as the plant requires little moisture to flourish. Be cautious not to overwater, as excessive dampness can lead to root rot. Propagation is straightforward, with the option to use leaf or stem cuttings, or offsets, to grow new plants.

In summary, Kalanchoe Tarantula is an alluring and easy-to-grow addition to any garden or indoor space, enchanting onlookers with its peculiar leaf structure and vibrant floral display. Its low maintenance requirements and adaptability make it an ideal choice for both novice and experienced gardeners alike. Bring home a Kalanchoe Tarantula to add a touch of exotic charm and intrigue to your living space.
