Pachyveria 'Rough' is a special hybrid cultivar that was introduced to the succulent world in Australia by merging the best traits of Pachyphytum and Echeveria plants. Known for its remarkable, chunky leaves, this variety adds an appealing texture to any garden. Resilient and easy to grow, it's a wonderful choice for both beginner gardeners and experienced enthusiasts alike.

The plant's rosette forms a neat, symmetrical shape, emanating a sea-green colour that veers towards a pastel tone under the soft, powdery wax coating known as farina. What sets this Pachyveria apart is its unique stress response. When subjected to changes in light intensity and temperature, the leaves transform, exhibiting hues of orange or purple. The contrast with its normal dark green state is truly fascinating to observe.

Pachyveria 'Rough' is a sun lover that thrives under full sunlight, where it can develop a slight red flush at the tips of its leaves. It's important to ensure this plant is positioned in a bright spot to get the most out of its stunning colour variations. As the sun's intensity varies throughout the day, so too does the plant's shade, creating a dynamic visual spectacle.

This Australian cultivar is more than just visually appealing, it's also an extremely practical plant. Able to withstand frost down to 0 degrees, it is well-suited to the Australian climate. In terms of size, mature specimens typically reach around 15-20cm in diameter, making them perfect for small and large gardens alike.

One of the most rewarding aspects of owning a Pachyveria 'Rough' is the ease of propagation. Both stem cuttings and mature leaves can be used to grow new plants, allowing you to expand your collection or share this beautiful plant with friends and family.

As a member of the Crassulaceae family, Pachyveria 'Rough' shares the slow-growing, drought-tolerant nature of its relatives. It is an outstanding choice for succulent and rock gardens, and it even produces clusters of small, star-shaped flowers in spring or summer, adding an extra layer of beauty to its profile.

To sum up, Pachyveria 'Rough' is not only an alluring and vibrant plant but also an adaptable and resilient one. Its easy care, intriguing stress response, and propagation friendliness make it a truly captivating addition to any garden.
