Sedum lucidum 'Obesum' Crested is a fascinating cultivar of Sedum lucidum, derived from the attractive form of Sedum lucidum 'Obesum' more correctly known as Sedum lucidum ISI 1497 as named by the Huntington Botanical Gardens in 1984. This particular cultivar boasts a unique crested growth habit that results in fan-shaped or rosette-like clusters of leaves, as opposed to the typical spreading growth pattern exhibited by the species.
This exceptional succulent retains the glossy, fleshy leaves of its parent plant, Sedum lucidum 'Obesum,' which are bright green and can blush red or purple when exposed to bright light. The plant produces small, star-shaped white flowers with yellow centers that emerge from tight clusters of glossy bracts and sepals in late autumn to early spring. Sedum lucidum 'Obesum' Crested can reach up to 20cm in height and 30cm in width.
