Sempervivum 'Georgette'
Sempervivum 'Georgette' is a charming, compact houseleek prized for its densely layered green rosettes, finely textured foliage and generous production of offsets. Its fresh green colouring and intricate, symmetrical growth create an attractive display, particularly as the plant develops into a closely packed cluster of rosettes.
Distinctive Foliage and Rosette Formation
The pointed, fleshy leaves of Sempervivum 'Georgette' form tightly arranged rosettes with a distinctive architectural appearance. Fine, pale hairs along the leaf margins give the foliage a softly outlined, almost frosted appearance, highlighting the individual leaves and their overlapping arrangement.
Colouring is predominantly fresh to medium green, although subtle changes in tone may occur with seasonal temperatures, sunlight and growing conditions. The tightly packed centres contrast beautifully with the more open outer leaves, creating depth and texture throughout the rosette.
Growth Habit and Propagation
This variety has a naturally clumping habit, producing numerous smaller rosettes, or offsets, around the parent plant. As these develop, they gradually fill the surrounding space, forming an attractive colony of closely grouped plants.
Like other houseleeks, Sempervivum 'Georgette' is monocarpic, meaning an individual rosette flowers once before completing its life cycle. Mature rosettes may eventually produce upright flowering stems bearing small, star-shaped flowers. Although the flowering rosette subsequently dies, the surrounding offsets continue growing and maintaining the colony.
Growing Sempervivum 'Georgette'
Grow in a bright, well-ventilated position with several hours of direct sunlight to encourage compact, sturdy rosettes. In warmer Australian regions, some protection from intense afternoon summer sun may be beneficial, particularly for plants grown in small pots.
Use a free-draining succulent potting mix and water thoroughly when the soil has dried. Avoid prolonged moisture around the roots and crown, especially during cool, wet weather. This hardy, cool-tolerant succulent generally performs best outdoors, where good airflow and seasonal temperature changes support healthy growth.
Offsets can be carefully separated once sufficiently developed and established individually, making this an enjoyable variety to propagate and share.

The plant you receive may therefore vary from the product images depending on the season, its stage of growth and current growing conditions. These natural variations are part of the character of living plants and do not affect their quality or health.
