Aeonium Bronze Medal Variegated 'Sweet Tea'

Aeonium Bronze Medal Variegated 'Sweet Tea' is a colourful variegated form of 'Bronze Medal', combining its naturally compact, densely branching habit with an ever-changing mixture of green, cream, pink and red.

Variegation & Seasonal Colour

Each small rosette can display its own pattern of variegation. Leaves may combine green central areas with cream to pale yellow sections, pink margins and irregular reddish markings. Some leaves also develop darker central streaks or mottling, adding further variation across an established multi-headed plant.

The intensity of the pink and red colouring changes with light, temperature and season. As with many variegated Aeoniums, no two plants—or even two rosettes on the same plant—need look exactly alike.

Relationship to Bronze Medal

'Sweet Tea', also encountered in cultivation as 'Green Tea', is a variegated form of Aeonium 'Bronze Medal'. It retains the compact branching habit and numerous small rosettes of the original cultivar while replacing its predominantly green and bronze foliage with much brighter variegation.

Compact Growth Habit

The plant develops numerous short branches, each carrying a small rosette. Over time these branches create a dense cluster that can display many different shades and variegation patterns simultaneously, making mature plants particularly attractive in decorative containers.

Growing 'Sweet Tea'

Grow in a bright position in a free-draining succulent mix. Good light helps maintain compact growth and strong colour, but variegated foliage contains less protective green tissue and can scorch more readily, so protection from intense Australian summer afternoon sun is recommended where necessary.

Water according to active growth and conditions, allowing excess moisture to drain freely. Aeoniums generally grow most strongly during the cooler months and slow during hot summer weather, when watering should be reduced accordingly.

A Colourful Collector Aeonium

The combination of small rosettes, dense branching and highly variable colour makes 'Sweet Tea' particularly rewarding for collectors. As the plant matures, its mixture of cream, green, pink and red creates a miniature mosaic that can change noticeably through the seasons.
