Crassula ovata 'Mikaeri Bijin' is a beautifully variegated jade succulent prized for its refined form and ever-changing colour palette. Translating from Japanese as “Return of Beauty,” this distinctive cultivar is believed to have originated in Japan as a selected mutation of the classic jade plant. Its slender, slightly twisted leaves set it apart from typical Crassula ovata, displaying soft green tones marbled with creamy white, blush pink, and hints of deep red that intensify in bright conditions.

This compact, slow-growing succulent develops a neat, shrubby structure with fine branching, making it well suited to pots, декоратив planters, or even bonsai-style shaping. The foliage is thinner and more delicate than standard jade varieties, giving it a lighter, more sculptural appearance. Under increased light and mild stress, the variegation becomes more pronounced, often producing striking pink and red margins that add seasonal interest.

Crassula ovata 'Mikaeri Bijin' variegata thrives in bright, filtered light or gentle morning sun, though it benefits from gradual acclimation to avoid leaf scorch. Indoors, a well-lit position near a window is ideal, while outdoors it prefers a protected spot with partial sun. Like most succulents, it requires a free-draining cactus or succulent mix and a “soak and dry” watering approach—allowing the soil to dry completely between watering cycles to prevent root rot.

Well suited to Australian conditions, this hardy plant performs best in mild to warm climates and should be protected from frost and prolonged cold below around 5°C. Its manageable size, striking variegation, and low-maintenance nature make it a standout choice for collectors and enthusiasts looking to add something a little different to their succulent collection.

First time customers... Please read our Shipping Guide, in top or bottom menu, before placing your order.

Please Note:

  • All plants are sent bare rooted with no pots and soil, or minimum soil only.
  • Due to the drying process necessary for sending plants through the mail, plants may look slightly different than images shown on our website.
  • Some plants may look wrinkled when they arrive, may be somewhat limp, or soft to the touch. This is normal as they have been dried out for a number of days before shipping to avoid rotting in the mail.
  • Succulents are very hardy plants and they will recover quickly, providing you unpack them as soon as you receive them and follow the simple care instructions included with your order.
