Echeveria 'Diamond State' Variegata is an unusual and highly decorative Echeveria hybrid, prized for its spectacular variegated foliage and strong seasonal colour. Its broad, fleshy leaves can display a remarkable combination of green, cream, pink and deep red tones, with individual leaves often developing dramatically different patterns.
The foliage can have a slightly irregular or monstrose appearance, adding to the plant's distinctive character. Under favourable conditions, mature rosettes can become substantial, with individual heads reaching approximately 20 cm across and established plants developing to around 30 cm tall.
Colour That Changes with the Seasons
One of the most appealing features of 'Diamond State' Variegata is how much its appearance can change throughout the year. Light levels, temperature and growing conditions all influence its colour, with stronger light and cooler conditions often encouraging richer pink and red tones.
Because the variegation is naturally variable, no two plants will look exactly alike. New growth may also develop differently from older leaves, giving established specimens an attractive mixture of colours and patterns.
Growing Echeveria 'Diamond State' Variegata
Grow in a free-draining succulent mix and provide plenty of bright light to encourage compact growth and good colour. Introduce plants gradually to stronger direct sun, particularly during hot Australian summers, as variegated foliage can be more susceptible to sun damage if conditions change too quickly.
Water thoroughly when required, then allow the growing medium to dry before watering again. Avoid keeping the soil continually wet, particularly during cooler weather. Good airflow and protection from prolonged rain and frost will also help maintain healthy foliage.

Pickup is available in Seville, Yarra Valley VIC by appointment. Order online as normal and any shipping charge will be automatically refunded after collection, unless you would prefer to receive an additional plant of similar value instead.
