Hylotelephium sieboldii f. variegatum more commonly known as Sedum sieboldii variegata or October Daphne, is a beautiful succulent that is native to Japan. This low-growing plant has a unique and striking appearance that makes it a favorite among gardeners and succulent enthusiasts alike.

Sedum sieboldii variegata features a crown that sprouts new branches from its base every winter as it emerges from dormancy. These fresh, stubby growths foreshadow the captivating spectacle that will unfold during the warmer growing season. Its elongated, graceful branches are adorned with lime green, crenate leaves that showcase contrasting yellow centers, creating a visually striking effect. As the plant matures, its now pendulous branches cascade, reaching an impressive stature of up to 20cm in height and a width of 50cm.

One of the most notable features of Sedum sieboldii variegata is its stunning flowers, which begin to develop in mid-summer. The buds start to intensify in color as they develop, gradually transforming into a deep pink when fully open. These flowers are a true feast for the eyes and attract bees and butterflies to the garden.

In late autumn, when the flowering season is over, the plant undergoes a transformation as the leaves change color. Depending on the lighting conditions, the leaves can take on a range of colors, including pink, copper, orange, yellow, and bright red. This makes it a great addition to any autumn garden or landscape.

Sedum sieboldii variegata is a hardy plant that thrives in well-drained soil and full sunlight. It is a drought-tolerant succulent that can survive in a range of temperatures, making it ideal for gardens across Australia. It can be propagated through stem cuttings and is easy to care for, making it an excellent choice for beginner gardeners.

Overall, Sedum sieboldii variegata is a beautiful and unique succulent that can add interest and color to any garden or landscape. Its variegated leaves, stunning flowers, and autumn colors make it a must-have for any succulent enthusiast or gardener looking for a low-maintenance, yet eye-catching plant.
