Crassula multicava variegated – Succulent Cutting

What you will receive

You will receive one healthy Crassula multicava variegated cutting similar in size and quality to those shown in images 4 onward. The first three images show established plants for display purposes and illustrate some of the natural colour variation this plant can develop. Each cutting is carefully selected and supplied ready for planting.

Colour and variegation will vary naturally depending on the season and growing conditions.

Cuttings are individually selected to provide similar overall value to those shown in the product images. As size varies naturally, additional smaller cuttings may occasionally be supplied where necessary to provide equivalent value.

About Crassula multicava variegated

Crassula multicava variegated is an attractive variegated form of the South African species Crassula multicava, valued for its spreading growth habit and beautifully patterned foliage. The paired leaves display contrasting shades of green, cream, white and yellow, with newer growth often showing warmer golden tones before the variegation lightens as the leaves mature.

Under brighter light and other seasonal conditions, pink tones can develop through the foliage and margins, creating an attractive contrast with the cream and green variegation. Growing to around 20 cm high, the plant branches readily and gradually develops into a dense, spreading clump that works particularly well in pots, garden beds and as a colourful ground cover.

Growing from Cuttings

Crassula multicava variegated is particularly easy to establish from stem cuttings. Its naturally branching and spreading growth habit allows a healthy cutting to develop into a substantial plant over time, making propagation by cuttings an excellent way to establish this colourful form.

Plant the cutting into a free-draining succulent mix after allowing any fresh cut surface to dry and callus. Position it in bright, filtered light while it establishes and water sparingly at first, allowing the growing medium to dry between waterings. Once established, new growth can emerge from the nodes and the plant will gradually branch from the base.

As the stems lengthen, they may also form roots where nodes come into contact with suitable growing medium, helping the plant spread and form a denser clump. Established plants can also produce small plantlets around the flowering stems, giving Crassula multicava variegated several natural ways to multiply. Its vigorous propagation habit makes it an especially rewarding succulent to grow from a cutting.

Seasonal Colour & Plant Variation

Succulents naturally change in colour, size and form throughout the year. Many develop richer colours and more compact growth during periods of seasonal stress, particularly through cooler months and brighter conditions, while warmer or lower-light conditions may produce greener, softer growth.

The plant you receive may therefore vary from the product images depending on the season, its stage of growth and current growing conditions. These natural variations are part of the character of living plants and do not affect their quality or health.
