Adromischus caryophyllaceus is a dwarf perennial subshrub with erect or decumbent stems that can grow up to 20cm in height. This plant is native to the Cape Province of South Africa, where it grows in rocky areas and on cliffs. Its leaves can be a shade of grey/green, blue/green or yellow/green in color, and are usually maroon in colour close poto the upper parts of the margins which becomes more prominent when subject to strong light.

In the summer, Adromischus caryophyllaceus produces delicate tubular flowers that are white or pink in color. These flowers open into 5-lobed corollas with bright pink or purple lines down the center of each lobe into the throat. This slow-growing plant is a great choice for beginners as it is relatively easy to care for. It prefers well-draining soil and bright, indirect light. Like most succulent plants, it is drought-tolerant and should be watered sparingly. However, it is important to protect the plant from frost and cold temperatures.

Adromischus caryophyllaceus is synonymous with Adromischus bolusii, Adromischus grandiflorus, and Adromischus jasminiflorus and is known locally as Nentabossie in Afrikaans. It makes an excellent companion plant for adding texture and color to any succulent collection.

The leaves of Adromischus caryophyllaceusare easily propagated by laying flat on moist substrate with almost every leaf producing a new plant making it a great choice for those who love to propagate and experiment with new plants. It is also an excellent addition to a rock garden or a sunny windowsill. The plant is low maintenance and can be enjoyed year-round, adding a touch of nature's beauty to your home or garden.
