Aeonium 'Picasso'
Aeonium ‘Picasso’ is an eye-catching variegated Aeonium prized for its extraordinary combination of green, cream, pink, burgundy and purple tones. Each rosette develops its own painterly pattern, with pale central variegation contrasting beautifully against darker outer leaf margins. As the seasons change, so does the display, making ‘Picasso’ an Aeonium that rarely looks exactly the same for long.
Colour & Variegation
During active growth, the centres can appear fresh lime-green to creamy yellow, while stronger light and cooler conditions encourage increasingly rich pink, red and purple tones around the outer foliage. The result can be remarkably vivid, particularly through the cooler months when Aeoniums are actively growing.
Variegation can vary naturally between individual rosettes and plants. This is part of the appeal of modern variegated Aeoniums, with each specimen developing slightly different proportions and patterns of colour.
Growing Aeonium ‘Picasso’
Grow ‘Picasso’ in bright light with some gentle direct sun to maintain compact growth and strong colour. In Australian conditions, protection from extreme afternoon heat is beneficial, particularly during summer. Plants grown in insufficient light may become greener and more open in form.
Use a freely draining succulent mix and water more regularly during active autumn-to-spring growth, allowing excess water to drain freely. Reduce watering as the plant slows during hot summer weather. Like most Aeoniums, it is best protected from significant frost.
A Living Palette of Colour
For collectors who enjoy highly variegated Aeoniums, ‘Picasso’ makes a beautiful companion to Aeonium arboreum ‘Chanel’. Both offer dramatic seasonal colour, yet their patterns and overall appearance are distinctly different, making them especially effective grown together as contrasting specimens.

The plant you receive may therefore vary from the product images depending on the season, its stage of growth and current growing conditions. These natural variations are part of the character of living plants and do not affect their quality or health.
Pickup is available in Seville, Yarra Valley VIC by appointment. Order online as normal and any shipping charge will be automatically refunded after collection, unless you would prefer to receive an additional plant of similar value instead.
