Echinopsis chamaecereus, also known as Peanut Cactus, is a charming cactus native to Argentina. It features pale green finger-like stems, with up to 10 soft white bristles per areole. This branched cactus can grow up to 10 cm tall and produces stunning orange-red flowers that are up to 5 cm in diameter. The blooms appear in flushes from late spring to early summer, adding a pop of color to any collection.

Although the plant is believed to be endemic to Argentina, it has not been found in the wild since it was first discovered in the early 1900s. It is hardy to temperatures as low as -7°C if kept dry, making it a great addition to rock gardens or as a houseplant.

In cultivation, Peanut Cactus is easy to care for, and it prefers bright, indirect light and well-draining soil. It can also tolerate drought and low humidity, making it an ideal plant for busy gardeners or those new to cactus care.

Echinopsis chamaecereus is a unique and attractive cactus that is sure to make a statement in any collection. Its compact size and beautiful blooms make it a popular choice among cactus enthusiasts and collectors alike. It is a recipient of the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit, further attesting to its desirability as a plant for your home or garden.
