About Aeonium ‘Blushing Beauty’
Aeonium ‘Blushing Beauty’ is an award-winning hybrid succulent valued for its compact rosettes, softly textured foliage and beautiful seasonal colour changes. Created in California from Aeonium canariense and Aeonium ‘Zwartkop’, it develops dense rosettes of spoon-shaped leaves and can reach around 50 cm in height as an established plant.
For much of the year the foliage remains predominantly green, but cooler conditions and stronger light encourage attractive red, burgundy and purple tones to develop through the rosettes. This seasonal transformation gives ‘Blushing Beauty’ much of its character and makes it especially appealing through the cooler months.
Growing from Cuttings
Aeonium ‘Blushing Beauty’ is particularly well suited to propagation from stem cuttings, making it an excellent choice for customers who enjoy establishing their own plants from an early stage. A healthy head cutting can develop into a strong new plant and, with time, begin branching and forming additional rosettes.
Plant the cutting into a free-draining succulent mix and keep it in a bright, protected position while it establishes. Water sparingly at first, allowing the growing medium to dry between waterings. Once new growth is evident, gradually introduce the plant to stronger light to encourage compact growth and richer colour.
As the cutting matures, it will gradually develop the dense rosette form and seasonal colour changes characteristic of Aeonium ‘Blushing Beauty’. Cooler temperatures and good light help bring out its deeper red and purple tones, while warmer conditions generally produce softer green colouring.
