You will receive one healthy Echeveria elegans ‘Mexican Snowball’ cutting similar in size and quality to the cutting shown in image 3. Images 1 & 2 show established plants and illustrate the attractive rosette form and clustering habit this species develops as it matures. Our cuttings are supplied callused and ready for planting.
Each cutting is carefully selected from our current stock. Colour, size and form will vary naturally depending on the season, growth stage and growing conditions.

About Echeveria elegans ‘Mexican Snowball’
Echeveria elegans, commonly known as Mexican Snowball or Mexican Gem, is a beautiful and enduring Echeveria species native to Mexico. It forms compact, symmetrical rosettes of thick, fleshy leaves with attractive blue-green to silvery-green colouring and a soft powdery coating of farina.
Under suitable light and seasonal conditions, the foliage can develop delicate pink tones, particularly around the leaf margins. As the plant matures it readily produces offsets, gradually developing from a single rosette into the attractive colonies of closely packed rosettes for which this species is well known.
Echeveria elegans is also valued for its flowers, producing slender arching stems carrying attractive pink to reddish flowers with yellow tips. Its combination of attractive foliage, prolific clustering and reliable growth has made it one of the classic Echeveria species for pots, rockeries, succulent gardens and mass plantings.
This highly regarded species has also received the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit, recognising its outstanding qualities as a garden plant.
Growing from Cuttings
Echeveria elegans is particularly easy and rewarding to establish from cuttings. Our cuttings are supplied already callused, removing the need to wait for the freshly cut stem to dry before planting and allowing you to begin establishing your new plant straight away.
Plant the cutting into a free-draining succulent mix and place it in a bright, protected position while roots develop. Water sparingly during the early establishment period, allowing the growing medium to dry between waterings. Once rooted and actively growing, gradually introduce the plant to stronger light to encourage compact rosette growth and attractive seasonal colouring.
Once established, Mexican Snowball readily produces offsets around the original rosette. These can be left attached to gradually create a substantial colony or separated later to establish additional plants. This natural ability to multiply makes growing Echeveria elegans from a cutting an economical way to establish one of the most attractive and dependable classic Echeveria species.
