About Echeveria ‘Tango Silk’ Variegata

Echeveria ‘Tango Silk’ Variegata is an attractive Korean hybrid prized for its beautiful variegation, compact rosettes and prolific clustering habit. Initially developing as individual rosettes, it readily produces offsets from the base and along older stems, gradually forming an impressive multi-headed specimen.

The foliage is predominantly lime green, highlighted by creamy white to pale yellow variegation throughout the leaves. When grown in good light, the leaf margins can develop soft pink to reddish tones, creating an appealing contrast against the lighter variegated foliage. As with many variegated succulents, individual cuttings can display slightly different patterns, giving each developing plant its own character.

Growing from Cuttings

Growing Echeveria ‘Tango Silk’ Variegata from cuttings is an economical and rewarding way to establish this colourful variety. With three cuttings supplied, you can plant them together to begin developing a fuller clustered specimen, or establish them individually to produce several plants.

Plant the cuttings into a free-draining succulent potting mix and keep them in a bright, protected position while they establish. Avoid excessive moisture during the early stages and allow the growing medium to dry between waterings. Once established, the cuttings will begin producing new growth and, in time, additional offsets.

Growth & Care

Individual rosettes generally remain relatively compact at around 5–7 cm in diameter, although size will vary with growing conditions. Its offsetting habit allows the overall plant to become considerably larger as multiple rosettes develop into an attractive clump.

Echeveria ‘Tango Silk’ Variegata performs best in a bright position with excellent drainage and good airflow. Morning sun or bright filtered light helps maintain compact growth and attractive variegation, while some protection from harsh afternoon summer sun is beneficial for the paler sections of the foliage.

With its colourful variegation, compact rosettes and willingness to produce offsets, Echeveria ‘Tango Silk’ Variegata is an appealing choice for collectors as well as growers who enjoy watching cuttings develop into established multi-headed specimens.
