This species, native to the Tamaulipas region in Mexico, thrives in crevices of vertical porphyric and igneous rocks among diverse vegetation like oaks, pines, and ferns. The plant is notable for its relatively modest size, growing up to 20 cm tall with mature rosettes reaching about 7 cm in diameter. Gardeners have the option to prune the plant to encourage branching, using the cuttings to propagate new plants, or to let it sprawl naturally. When left to grow uninhibited, it tends to act as a ground cover, rooting wherever stems touch the ground.
