Sedum dasyphyllum var. glanduliferum, commonly known as 'Fuzzy Wuzzy Sedum', is a delightful succulent that forms chubby little rosettes covered with tiny, fine hairs. This furry plant forms dense mats that will spill over the edge of a container, making it an attractive trailing plant for any garden. It grows to a height of just 7-10 cm, growing much wider than it is tall, making it a perfect choice for hanging baskets or fairy gardens.

This hardy ground cover thrives in full sun and is perfect for alpine gardens. It is also a wildlife attractant, drawing in bees and butterflies. Fuzzy Wuzzy Sedum is an evergreen plant with unusual glaucous grey foliage  that can change to sky blue or lilac mauve or pink (as seen in image 1) depending on the growing environment. Its showy pink flowers bloom in late spring or early summer, and again in late summer or early autumn.

This sedum can spread very fast, the reason being that each leaf that falls from the plant will grow roots and form a new plant. We had it growing under one of our benches in a poly house straight on the weed mat, from some fallen leaves and it must have been the perfect growing enviroment of warmth, bright indirect light, and just enough moisture.  It formed a metre wide mat in a couple of years before we had to remove it.

Sedum dasyphyllum var. glanduliferum is pest resistant and has average water needs. It is important to note that this plant does not like wet feet and requires well-draining soil, such as dry, loamy, or sandy potting mix. In terms of hardiness, this plant can handle freezing temperatures and is suitable for moderate climates. However, in truly cold winters, it may need some protection.

Propagation of Fuzzy Wuzzy Sedum is relatively easy and can be done through division, stem cuttings, and leaves. This plant is also deer-resistant, making it an excellent choice for areas with heavy wildlife traffic.

This succulent is native to northern Africa and southwestern Europe, including Sicily, Sardinia, Corsica, southern Spain, and southern Portugal. It is an extremely variable species complex, with a wide range of cytological and morphological variation. Var. glanduliferum specifically refers to plants with alternate leaves, while covering the whole range of variation found in this species complex.

Overall, Sedum dasyphyllum var. glanduliferum is a charming, low-maintenance plant that is sure to bring a touch of fuzzy, trailing beauty to any garden or fairy garden.

Sedum dasyphyllum var. glanduliferum aka 'Fuzzy Wuzzy Sedum' plants for sale shown in 70mm pot. You will receive same or similar plants as those shown in images 2 onward. First image for display only. Colours will vary depending on time of year and growing conditions.

We also have two other forms of this popular plant, Sedum dasyphyllum Lilac Mound and Sedum dasyphyllum major. Just click the links for each plant if you would like to check them out.
