Sedum dasyphyllum 'Minor' is a miniature stonecrop that forms dense carpets of tiny, rounded blue-grey leaves, creating a soft, finely textured groundcover. Reaching around 12 cm tall when in flower, it is well suited to rockeries, fairy gardens, alpine troughs, miniature landscapes, living walls, hanging baskets and decorative containers. Its naturally spreading habit also makes it ideal for filling gaps between stepping stones or cascading gently over the edges of pots.
Seasonal colour
One of the defining features of Sedum dasyphyllum 'Minor' is its changing foliage colour throughout the year. During periods of active growth with adequate moisture, the leaves are typically blue-green. With brighter sunlight, cooler temperatures or drier conditions, they can gradually develop attractive lilac, lavender, pink and purple tones, providing changing colour and interest through the seasons.

It also propagates with ease from fallen leaves, with even tiny leaves capable of developing into new plants. This natural ability to regenerate helps established plants gradually spread into attractive carpets of foliage.
Growing conditions
Grow in a free-draining succulent or cactus mix in a bright position with good airflow. It performs well in bright light to full sun, although some protection from intense afternoon sun can be beneficial during periods of extreme Australian summer heat, particularly for plants grown in small containers.
Allow the growing medium to dry between waterings and avoid keeping the plant continually wet. Once established, it is highly drought tolerant and requires only occasional watering during extended dry periods. Brighter light, cooler temperatures and slightly drier conditions generally encourage more pronounced lilac and purple colouring.
