Sempervivum 'Moi' is a compact and charming cultivar from the Sempervivum genus, valued for its petite rosettes and soft, harmonious colour palette. Believed to be of European origin, ‘Moi’ is likely a hybrid within the broad Sempervivum tectorum complex, though its precise parentage is unrecorded. What makes this cultivar especially appealing is its tight, symmetrical form—each rosette densely packed with pointed leaves that shift from bright green to blush pink depending on sun exposure and seasonal changes.
A distinctive feature of Sempervivum 'Moi' is the presence of long cilia—fine, hair-like structures—along the leaf margins. These give the rosettes a soft, almost fuzzy appearance while also enhancing their visual texture. The plant naturally forms a colony over time by producing offsets, or “chicks,” around the central “hen,” making it ideal for spreading groundcover, low-maintenance edging, or container displays.
Like most Sempervivum, ‘Moi’ thrives in full sun and benefits from a freely draining soil mix to prevent root rot. Its drought tolerance and cold resilience make it well-suited to Australian gardens in temperate to cool regions, particularly in alpine-style rockeries, troughs, or exposed beds.
Low-growing and tidy, Sempervivum 'Moi' rarely grows more than 5–10 cm tall and slowly spreads outwards, creating a living tapestry of green and pink tones. Its minimal care requirements and seasonal colour shifts make it a delightful addition to succulent collections or landscape designs seeking understated elegance with botanical interest.
