Aeonium ‘Du Rozzen’ is a striking hybrid succulent celebrated for its compact form and vivid coloration. This small shrub forms neat, symmetrical rosettes of glossy, fleshy leaves in deep plum to purple tones, beautifully accented by a fresh green centre. As cooler months arrive, the foliage deepens in hue, maintaining its intensity even through winter — a feature that makes this cultivar especially admired among collectors and landscapers alike.
Growing to around 40 cm tall and spreading up to 60 cm wide, Aeonium ‘Du Rozzen’ creates a sculptural mound that adds depth and texture to container displays, rockeries, or mixed succulent borders. In summer, mature rosettes produce showy clusters of bright yellow star-shaped flowers, providing a cheerful contrast against the dark foliage. Like many aeoniums, it is monocarpic, meaning that each rosette will naturally die after flowering, though offsets continue to grow and maintain the plant’s form.
Native to the Canary Islands, aeoniums are well adapted to Mediterranean-style Australian gardens, thriving in full sun to part shade and well-draining soil. ‘Du Rozzen’ is drought-tolerant once established, requiring only occasional watering during extended dry periods. To encourage lush growth and colour, a light application of slow-release fertiliser in spring is beneficial. Minimal pruning is needed, though removing spent rosettes can keep the plant tidy and compact.
Best protected from frost and excessive humidity, Aeonium ‘Du Rozzen’ is perfect for pots, patios, coastal gardens, and low-water landscapes. With its refined symmetry and year-round colour, this elegant hybrid brings a bold yet balanced statement to any succulent collection or modern garden design.
