Crassula cotyledonis 'Dubia'
Crassula cotyledonis 'Dubia' is a charming succulent originating from the rocky terrains of southern Namibia and South Africa's Western and Eastern Cape provinces. With its silvery, spoon-shaped leaves and soft, delicate appearance, this delightful plant introduces a dash of visual intrigue to any setting.
This specific variety, 'Dubia', stands out in the sun-drenched corners of your garden, where it develops a mesmerising pink edge on its rounded leaves. Don't miss its vibrant floral display in summer; clusters of tubular, cream to pale-yellow flowers emerge, adding another layer of fascination to this already intriguing specimen. The mature plant grows up to 20 cm tall, offering a visual treat with its tightly packed rosette and sparsely branched structure.
Crassula 'Dubia' is as versatile as it is beautiful. Hardy to temperatures down to -3.9 °C, it's ideal for the temperate zones of Australia. Grow it outside in a well-draining xeriscape garden, or bring it indoors to add some greenery to your interior. With a preference for bright, indirect light, it can easily adapt to indoor living.
This succulent's care requirements are minimal. Opt for a gritty, free-draining potting mix, and water sparingly – overwatering is this plant's nemesis. The coarse, recurved hairs on its leaves, coupled with marginal cilia, are not just visually appealing; they also serve a vital purpose by helping the plant retain moisture, making it a sustainable choice for dry climates.
Crassula cotyledonis 'Dubia' truly captures the essence of easy, yet captivating plant care. Its unique appearance and adaptability make it an intriguing addition to any plant collection, either indoors or outdoors. So why not indulge in a little South African charm with this beautiful succulent?
