Echeveria agavoides 'Ebony' is a stunning succulent cultivar that is sure to catch the eye of any plant enthusiast. This rare plant, which hails from Mexico, was discovered in the year 2000 by John Trager and Myron Kimnach. 'Ebony' belongs to the Crassulaceae family and is a unique species of Echeveria agavoides.

This succulent forms a tight rosette of thick, fleshy triangular leaves that can grow up to 30 cm in diameter and height. The leaves are bright green with dark purplish-brown margins that can turn almost black with changes in temperature and sun-exposure. The plant produces small, thin reddish-pink flowers with yellow tips on long stalks during late winter and early spring.

Echeveria agavoides 'Ebony' is an easy-to-cultivate plant that prefers light shade with temperatures above 10 °C. This plant is prone to root rot, so it is crucial to use well-draining soil mixed with pumice, clay, and loam, and to use perforated pots to allow excess water to drain. Watering can be done every seven days during the growing season from mid spring to mid autumn, ensuring that the soil is dry before watering again. In winter, it's best to let the plant enter dormancy and stop watering altogether. Fertilization with cacti-specific fertilizers can be done once a month during the growing season to promote faster and lusher growth. Dead leaves should be removed from the base of the stem to reduce humidity, increase airflow, and prevent pest infestations.

Echeveria agavoides 'Ebony' is a cultivar of Echeveria agavoides, commonly known as Molded Wax, Molded Wax Agave, Molded Wax Plant, Wax Agave, or Wax Echeveria. This succulent forms rosettes up to 6 inches in diameter and produces offsets or "pups" at the base of the plant that can be used for propagation. The dark purplish-brown leaf margins are what give this cultivar its name.

In conclusion, Echeveria agavoides 'Ebony' is a rare and striking succulent that is easy to care for and sure to add beauty and interest to any collection. Its unique coloration and shape make it a standout addition to any indoor or outdoor garden.
