Echeveria Cante, also known simply as 'Cante', is a magnificent succulent plant that belongs to the Crassulaceae family. This particular hybrid is believed to have originated in California, United States, though its precise parentage is not well-documented.
One of the standout features of Echeveria Cante is its unique rosette-shaped leaves, which display a stunning blend of pastel colors, including blue, purple, pink, and green. The leaves are fleshy and adorned with a lovely powdery coating of farina, giving them a velvety texture. In its regular form, Echeveria Cante grows up to 15-20 cm in height and a little over 10cm in diameter.
It's worth noting that there are numerous genetic variations of this plant. The regular Cante grows much smaller than this variety, with deeper red coloring along its edges and less farina than this one. This alternative is easier to grow, boasting a faster growth rate and a much larger size, making it a spectacular feature plant for large pot or in the garden.
With regular potting and optimal growing conditions, this plant can reach a whopping diameter of 50cm to 60cm in just 4 to 5 years. We can vouch for this firsthand, as the stock from which these plants were obtained was around 5 years old and measured 60cm in diameter.
Despite not being considered a rare plant, Echeveria Cante is highly coveted by succulent collectors and enthusiasts for its exceptional beauty and ease of care. With proper watering and sunlight, this plant can flourish in a range of climates, making it an excellent choice for both novice and experienced gardeners.
