A lush burgundy rosette with pale green centre and emerging strong flower stems Love it!
Echeveria 'Hermes' is a beautifully structured succulent with closely layered rosettes and a striking contrast between cool green centres and dusky purple outer leaves. Pink to red edges and sharply pointed tips give each rosette a crisp outline, making this an especially attractive plant to view from above.
The fleshy leaves overlap in neat, symmetrical layers. New growth emerges in soft green to blue-green tones, while the older leaves can develop shades of mauve, burgundy and deep purple. In the photographs, the greener centres stand out against the darker outer foliage, with pink-red colour tracing many of the leaf edges and tips.
Colour will change with the seasons and growing conditions. Brighter light and cooler conditions can encourage richer pink and purple tones, while plants in active growth may show more green. Individual rosettes will also vary, giving each plant its own balance of colour.
A fine powdery coating, known as farina, softens the leaf colours and gives the rosette its muted, almost frosted appearance. This natural waxy layer helps reflect some sunlight and affects how water behaves on the foliage. Because touching the leaves can disturb its even finish, it is best to handle the plant by its pot where practical. If the coating is marked, the plant can continue producing surface wax, although how quickly its appearance changes will vary.
Grow in a bright position with enough light to maintain the rosette's compact shape and attractive colour. Gentle sun can be beneficial, but introduce plants gradually to stronger light and provide protection from harsh afternoon sun during hot Australian summers, especially when moving a plant from sheltered nursery conditions.
Plant in a free-draining succulent mix and water thoroughly when required, allowing the mix to dry appropriately between waterings. Good airflow and protection from prolonged winter wet will help keep the foliage and roots healthy. In frost-prone areas, a pot makes it easy to move the plant into a sheltered position during severe cold.
With its precisely layered leaves and changing green, pink and purple colouring, Echeveria 'Hermes' makes a beautiful feature in a pot or a bright, well-drained succulent display.

Succulents naturally change in colour, size and form throughout the year. Many develop richer colours and more compact growth during periods of seasonal stress, particularly through cooler months and brighter conditions, while warmer or lower-light conditions may produce greener, softer growth.
The plant you receive may therefore vary from the product images depending on the season, its stage of growth and current growing conditions. These natural variations are part of the character of living plants and do not affect their quality or health.
