Echeveria lilacina 'Marble' Variegated is a striking rosette-forming succulent with broad, sculptural leaves and softly marbled colouring. Its blue-grey foliage carries pale cream and silvery markings that vary from leaf to leaf, giving each plant its own delicate pattern.
The thick leaves overlap to form an elegant, open rosette. Their gently curved surfaces and slightly pointed tips give the plant a distinctive shape, while the pale variegation adds interest without overwhelming its subtle colouring. As new leaves develop, the balance of blue-grey, green and cream can change, so no two rosettes will look exactly alike.
A fine powdery coating, known as farina, gives the foliage its soft, silvery finish. This natural coating is easily marked by touch, so handle the leaves as little as possible to preserve their appearance.
Grow this variegated Echeveria in a bright position with plenty of light to help maintain a well-formed rosette. Gentle morning sun or bright, protected light is a good starting point. Acclimatise plants gradually to stronger conditions and protect them from harsh afternoon sun during hot Australian summers, particularly where the foliage has large pale areas.
Use a free-draining succulent mix and water thoroughly when needed, allowing the mix to dry appropriately between waterings. Keep the rosette well ventilated and avoid leaving water sitting among the leaves. In colder areas, protect the plant from frost and prolonged winter wet.
