Echeveria ‘Melaco’ is a stunning, unique succulent, that is sure to add interest to any collection or garden. With glossy, spade-shaped leaves that range in color from dark chocolate to pink, purple, orange or green, this plant shifts colors throughout the seasons, making it a real standout. The center of the rosette turns pink when the plant is stressed and/or in winter, adding to its appeal. The overall color of the plant is shiny, almost polished, and the leaves can have lines or veins running through them.

Melaco grows a bit differently to most other plants in the Echeveria genus. Rosettes grow on a tall stalk rather than close to the ground and can reach to about 20cm in height. Individual rosettes grow to 15cm in diameter, in ideal conditions. Melaco forms a bunch of rosettes, usually growing from the same stalk, and each offset can go on to produce offsets of their own.

Echeveria ‘Melaco’ is a hardy plant that can be grown outdoors all year round in moderate climates. It is not frost hardy, however, so it will need to be brought indoors or under cover during winter if frost or snow is expected. The best appearance is achieved when Melaco is grown in as much sun as possible, but it will also grow in a bright shade.

Propagation is easy through offsets and leaves, while growing from seeds can be difficult. This small, slow-growing, low maintenance plant is ideal in warm climate landscapes and container gardens, and can even be grown as a houseplant on a sunny windowsill.

Overall, Echeveria ‘Melaco’ is a striking and interesting plant that is sure to catch the eye of any succulent lover.
