Echeveria 'Raspberry Ice' (multi)
Echeveria ‘Raspberry Ice’ is a refined hybrid succulent admired for its compact, clustering habit and softly coloured, frosted foliage. Thought to originate from selective breeding within the Echeveria genus—likely involving species with glaucous (powdery-coated) leaves—this cultivar forms neat, rose-like rosettes of fleshy, semi-translucent foliage. The leaves are a pale, icy green at rest, but develop striking raspberry-pink to soft red tones along the margins and tips when exposed to cooler temperatures or bright light, giving the plant its distinctive name.
Each rosette remains relatively small, typically reaching around 8–12 cm in diameter, before offsetting to create a dense cluster over time. The foliage often carries a delicate farina (natural powdery coating), enhancing its pastel hues and providing a subtle, velvety finish. In favourable conditions, mature plants send up slender flower spikes in the warmer months, producing creamy yellow, bell-shaped blooms that contrast gently against the cool-toned leaves.
This variety prefers a bright position with plenty of filtered sunlight to maintain its compact form and vibrant colouring. While it tolerates direct morning sun, protection from intense afternoon heat is recommended during Australian summers to prevent leaf scorch. Like most succulents, it thrives in a free-draining soil mix with added mineral content such as pumice or perlite, and benefits from the soak and dry watering method to avoid excess moisture around the roots.
Echeveria ‘Raspberry Ice’ is considered slightly more delicate than hardier varieties, responding best to stable conditions and good airflow. It performs well in containers, shallow bowls, or carefully curated succulent arrangements, where its soft colour shifts and symmetrical form can be appreciated up close.

Pickup is available in Seville, Yarra Valley VIC by appointment. Order online as normal and any shipping charge will be automatically refunded after collection, unless you would prefer to receive an additional plant of similar value instead.
