Echeveria 'Suyon', a hybrid succulent brought to us from Korea, is cherished for its vibrantly colourful and compact rosettes. The rosettes exhibit a striking arrangement of tightly packed leaves, creating an aesthetically pleasing spectacle. They reach up to 12 cm in diameter, usually settling around a more petite 3-4 cm.
Its leaves showcase a fascinating transition in colour under stress - from a more subdued gray-green to an enchanting peachy pink to pinkish-red. This remarkable transformation, combined with the red margins of the leaves, give Echeveria 'Suyon' its unique and captivating visual appeal. However, it's worth noting that unlike many of its Echeveria counterparts, 'Suyon' does not produce flowers.
In terms of hardiness, 'Suyon' can handle a variety of climatic conditions, tolerating temperatures down to around -3.9 °C, comparable to those found in Australian Climate Zones 4-9. Nevertheless, this succulent needs to be kept free from frost during the colder months. Its preference lies with bright sunlight and well-draining soil, where it flourishes and displays its colours most strikingly.
This succulent's compact growth and unique colouration make it a desired choice among plant enthusiasts. Whether it's showcased in a rock garden or arranged as a standalone piece in a container, Echeveria 'Suyon' adds a distinct touch of elegance and exoticism. Its fascinating appearance and adaptability make it a delightful addition to any plant collection. With the right care and conditions, Echeveria 'Suyon' rewards its grower with a visually stunning display of succulent splendour.
