Echeveria 'Zorro' is a striking hybrid succulent known for its large, frilly rosettes of fleshy leaves. This dynamic plant displays a stunning color palette that shifts with the seasons, ranging from gray-brown to deep burgundy. Younger leaves are often paler, creating an appealing contrast with the older foliage. The leaf margins are delicately ruffled, with a pale red or pink hue, adding a refined touch to its dramatic appearance. In ideal conditions, the rosettes can grow up to 40 cm in diameter, sitting atop sturdy stems that elevate its contorted, frilled leaves.

Originating from a seedling at Dick Wright's Nursery in California and named by Australian collector Bev Spiller, Echeveria 'Zorro' thrives in full sun to partial shade. Its vivid colors intensify with brighter light, making it a standout feature in any landscape. It prefers well-draining soil and is highly drought-tolerant once established, making it an ideal plant for low-maintenance gardens.

During winter, tall inflorescences up to 90 cm emerge, topped with tubular dark pink flowers, adding to its visual appeal. This versatile succulent is perfect for containers, rockeries, or garden borders. To keep it thriving for years, it's recommended to decapitate, callus, and replant every 3 to 4 years. Echeveria 'Zorro' is not only an eye-catching addition but also a waterwise, low-maintenance option for Australian gardens.
