Euphorbia 'Pineapple Head', known botanically as Euphorbia Bupleurifolia X Susanna cv, is a Japanese cultivar that adds a unique aesthetic charm to any plant collection. One glance at the cluster of tight, compact stems topped with short green leaves and you'll instantly see why it carries the whimsical moniker, 'Pineapple Head'. This hardy little plant stands proudly at a height of up to 15cm, perfect for adding character to borders, rockeries, and containers, or even serving as an interesting indoor spectacle in a well-lit area.
While its origins are Japanese, the 'Pineapple Head' is a hybrid between two Euphorbia species native to different corners of the world - Euphorbia bupleurifolia from Madagascar and Euphorbia susannae. The blending of these two results in a fascinating combination of their features. What truly sets this Euphorbia apart is its caudiciform nature - a thickened, fat caudex forms the base from which the cluster of leaves springs forth. It's an intriguing adaptation usually seen in plants from arid regions, and it provides a unique visual interest.
Caring for the 'Pineapple Head' is a rewarding experience, even for novice gardeners. Despite its exotic appearance, it's not demanding. It enjoys a good drink when its soil is dry and prefers to dry out between waterings. A spot with part shade would be ideal, but it can tolerate full sun depending on your location. Come winter, it prefers to be sheltered but will still stand up admirably to the cold.
Finally, a note of caution: like many Euphorbias, the 'Pineapple Head' has sap that can irritate the skin and eyes. Handle with care when tending to your plant.
In summary, the Euphorbia 'Pineapple Head' is an interesting and unusual plant, combining hardiness with unique aesthetics. It's a wonderful choice for anyone looking to add a touch of exotic charm to their home or garden without requiring expert horticultural skills.

Succulents naturally change in colour, size and form throughout the year. Many develop richer colours and more compact growth during periods of seasonal stress, particularly through cooler months and brighter conditions, while warmer or lower-light conditions may produce greener, softer growth.
The plant you receive may therefore vary from the product images depending on the season, its stage of growth and current growing conditions. These natural variations are part of the character of living plants and do not affect their quality or health.
Pickup is available in Seville, Yarra Valley VIC by appointment. Order online as normal and any shipping charge will be automatically refunded after collection, unless you would prefer to receive an additional plant of similar value instead.

The delivery was a day late
Store owner replied: Hi Jennifer, Sorry you felt the delivery was late, but we mailed your plants Express Post on Monday and you received them on Wednesday which is quite common when mailing interstate. Australia Post makes no guarantees for next day delivery, and any issues with mailing times should be taken up with them as this is outside of our control. Kind Regards, J&N
Beautiful plant, lovely addition to our collection.
This is my second order of pineapple head after cockatoos took the first one. Quick delivery, plants arrive happy and now in their new home. The small red leave succulent was a gift and very pretty. This is one of a number of orders I have made. Very happy!
Store owner replied: Sorry to hear about the cockatoos. Hope you have better luck this time.
Unfortunately I cannot share a photo as an annoying cockatoo stole my Pineapple Head shortly after planting it. I will say that it arrived very happy and looking well. I have since ordered 2 more pineapples and will protect them better this time. The delivery is always quick and plants always happy. Plus John & Norma randomly add a gift which is a wonderful surprise.
Great healthy plants and quick to receive
