Haworthia cooperi 'Silver Swirls' is an exquisite and compact succulent prized for its striking silvery-green foliage and intricate leaf patterns. A cultivated variety of Haworthia cooperi, this dwarf succulent is native to South Africa and thrives in well-lit conditions with minimal water, making it a low-maintenance yet visually captivating addition to any plant collection.
This slow-growing succulent forms a tight rosette, reaching a mature height of approximately 8–10 cm and a spread of 10–15 cm. Its fleshy, semi-translucent leaves are adorned with delicate silver-white swirls, accentuating the leaf’s natural striations. The subtle contrast between the silvery tones and deeper green hues creates a mesmerizing, almost glass-like effect. Fine, soft teeth line the leaf margins, adding texture without making the plant spiny or harsh to the touch.
During the warmer months of spring and summer, Haworthia cooperi 'Silver Swirls' produces slender flower stalks that rise above the foliage, bearing small, white, tubular flowers arranged in a raceme. While not particularly showy, these blooms add a delicate charm to the overall aesthetic of the plant.
Best grown in bright, indirect light, Silver Swirls prefers well-draining soil and requires minimal watering. Allow the soil to dry completely between waterings to prevent root rot. It thrives in temperatures between 18–24°C and should be protected from frost. Given its slow growth rate, repotting is rarely needed, though fresh succulent mix every few years will keep it thriving. Propagation is easily achieved through off-sets, allowing for effortless expansion of this distinctive succulent’s captivating beauty.
