
Monanthes polyphylla is an eye-catching succulent plant that that can thrive in Australian conditions. Native to the Canary Islands, this plant belongs to the family Crassulaceae and is popularly grown as a houseplant or in rock gardens due to its ease of care. It is characterized by tiny many-leaved rosettes, forming soft, shiny, dense clumps, which bear numerous small purplish flowers like parasols in spring and summer.
The rosettes are made up of hundreds of tiny succulent leaves, which offset profusely forming dense clusters. The leaves are green, cylindrical or club-shaped, and densely packed, with a waxy coating that helps to retain moisture. Monanthes polyphylla can grow up to 12 cm tall, forming dense clumps of rosettes up to 20 cm in diameter.
