Sedeveria Letizia Variegata
Sedeveria 'Letizia' Variegata is a variegated form of Sedeveria 'Letizia', an intergeneric hybrid between Sedum cuspidatum and Echeveria setosa var. ciliata. It combines the compact rosettes and branching habit of regular 'Letizia' with contrasting green and cream-variegated foliage.
Green & Cream Variegation
The fleshy leaves develop cream to pale yellow variegation contrasting with the green, chlorophyll-containing portions of the foliage. Fine cilia occur along the leaf margins, retaining one of the characteristic features of regular 'Letizia'. The amount and distribution of variegation can vary naturally between leaves, rosettes and individual plants.
The cream variegation becomes particularly conspicuous when seasonal red pigmentation develops. Red to scarlet colouring can overlay and border portions of the foliage while green remains visible towards the centres of actively growing rosettes, producing considerable variation in colour across the plant.
Winter Colour & Environmental Stress
Like regular 'Letizia', this variegated form responds strongly to environmental stress. In our nursery, cold winter conditions are responsible for the most intense red colouring. During particularly cold winters, including periods of sub-zero temperatures, plants can develop deep red to red-orange pigmentation that contrasts strongly with the green and cream variegation.
Strong sunlight, heat and reduced moisture can also encourage reddish colour during warmer conditions, although the plant is generally greener through summer and active growth. In our experience, the exceptionally intense reds displayed by this cultivar are primarily a winter response, and plants may colour much less strongly during winters that remain relatively mild.
Growing Sedeveria 'Letizia' Variegata
Grow in a free-draining succulent mix in a bright position with good airflow. Good light helps maintain compact growth and encourages seasonal colour, although the paler variegated tissue contains less chlorophyll and can be more susceptible to damage from abrupt exposure to intense sunlight. Acclimatise plants gradually when increasing their exposure.
Water thoroughly when required and allow the growing medium to dry appropriately between waterings. As with many variegated succulents, maintaining a healthy balance of green and variegated tissue supports vigorous growth.

Succulents naturally change in colour, size and form throughout the year. Many develop richer colours and more compact growth during periods of seasonal stress, particularly through cooler months and brighter conditions, while warmer or lower-light conditions may produce greener, softer growth.
The plant you receive may therefore vary from the product images depending on the season, its stage of growth and current growing conditions. These natural variations are part of the character of living plants and do not affect their quality or health.
Pickup is available in Seville, Yarra Valley VIC by appointment. Order online as normal and any shipping charge will be automatically refunded after collection, unless you would prefer to receive an additional plant of similar value instead.
