Sedum dasyphyllum major is an easy to grow small succulent ground cover with pretty blue/grey leaves and an interesting growth habit. Common names are Corsican Stonecrop, Blue Tears Sedum and Love and Tangles. it is a hardy succulent that grows well in the harshest conditions and is a popular choice for Australian gardens.

This plant has many branching, horizontal to erect stems that grow up to 10 cm in length, forming a dense mat. The leaves are tiny, powdery blue-grey, round, and up to 6 mm in length. They are opposite or rarely alternate and overlap each other, creating a unique textured effect. Clusters of white star-shaped flowers appear in early summer, adding an extra layer of interest to this lovely ground cover.

Sedum dasyphyllum major is well-suited to Australia's harsh climate. It can grow in well-drained soils in full sun to light shade and is extremely urban tolerant. It can thrive in highly stressful sites with thin, poor, or very dry soils, of various pH, low fertility, extreme heat, drought, and high light reflectance. This plant can withstand periods of drought due to its thick, succulent leaves, which store water, making it an excellent choice for low-maintenance gardens.

Growing Sedum dasyphyllum major is simple and straightforward. Simply laying the plant on the ground for shorter varieties where you want it to grow is usually enough to get it started. It will send out roots from wherever the stem is touching the ground and root itself. For taller varieties, you can cut off one or more of the stems and cover the stems with soil where you want it to grow. The stems will root easily, and a new plant will be established in a a matter of weeks.

Sedum dasyphyllum major is an excellent choice for containers, covering small embankments, border fronts, and rock gardens. It is not usually bothered by pests or diseases and is deer and rabbit resistant. This plant is a perfect choice for gardeners who want a low-maintenance, hardy plant that adds interest and texture to their garden.
