Sedum versadense
Sedum versadense is a small, branching Mexican Sedum with softly hairy, fleshy leaves and considerable seasonal variation in colour. Compact rosettes form along branching stems, with established plants gradually developing into dense clusters of numerous growing points.
Hairy Foliage & Seasonal Colour
The small fleshy leaves are covered with fine hairs, giving the foliage a softly textured appearance. Colour can vary considerably according to season, light and growing conditions, ranging from green through bronze, pink and reddish tones, with deeper colour often developing around the leaf margins and exposed surfaces.
The stems gradually branch and spread as plants mature, producing new rosettes at the growing tips and around established growth. Older stems can become more elongated, while new growth remains compact and closely arranged.
A Mexican Sedum Species
Sedum versadense is an accepted botanical species native to Mexico, with its recorded natural distribution extending through central and southwestern Mexico to Oaxaca. It was formally described by American botanist Charles Henry Thompson in 1911.
Modern botanical treatments recognise several subspecies within Sedum versadense, reflecting variation within this Mexican species. Plants in cultivation are commonly grown simply under the species name unless their subspecific identity is known.
Flowers & Growth
Small star-shaped flowers are produced in clusters above and around the foliage. The flowers are white to very pale pink, often with pink colouring around the centre. Flowering stems can continue to develop while carrying leaves, creating the elongated flowering growth visible on mature plants.
Growth and foliage colour can change noticeably through the year. Established plants branch readily and can gradually form broad, densely populated specimens, particularly when grown in containers for an extended period.
Growing Sedum versadense
Grow in a free-draining succulent mix in a bright position with good airflow. Good light encourages compact growth and stronger foliage colour, while some protection from intense Australian summer afternoon sun may be beneficial where plants have not been acclimatised.
Water thoroughly when required and allow the growing medium to dry appropriately between waterings. Avoid prolonged waterlogging, particularly during cooler conditions. Plants growing in small containers may require more regular watering during active growth and warm weather.

The plant you receive may therefore vary from the product images depending on the season, its stage of growth and current growing conditions. These natural variations are part of the character of living plants and do not affect their quality or health.
Pickup is available in Seville, Yarra Valley VIC by appointment. Order online as normal and any shipping charge will be automatically refunded after collection, unless you would prefer to receive an additional plant of similar value instead.
