Sempervivum 'Centennial' (Bronow) is a striking evergreen succulent that forms rosettes of rich magenta leaves with distinctive short, marginal cilia. This cultivar is known for its impressive clumping habit, producing offsets regularly along stolons, which can either remain to create a dense cluster or be removed for sharing and transplanting. In cooler weather or shadier conditions, the foliage lightens to a more green hue, but it truly shines under full sunlight where it displays its vibrant colours.

This hardy succulent is perfect for Australian gardens, thriving in well-draining soils with excellent sun exposure. The plant performs best in gritty, fast-draining soil and benefits from pots with drainage holes to avoid waterlogging. It is highly frost-tolerant, often flourishing even under an insulating blanket of snow, making it a great option for gardens in cooler regions. However, it’s important to protect Sempervivum 'Centennial' from heavy rainfall and standing water, as excessive moisture can cause rot.

Sempervivum 'Centennial' does most of its growing in spring and summer. Regular watering, especially during dry spells, helps maintain its health, but the plant prefers its soil to dry out between waterings. When temperatures rise above 26°C, a bit of afternoon shade can help keep the plant comfortable. Pink flowers appear in summer, adding an extra layer of beauty to this already stunning succulent.

With its unique colouration and reliable growth habits, Sempervivum 'Centennial' is an ideal choice for creating beautiful, low-maintenance clusters in your garden.
