Aeonium 'Pink Witch' Crest is a rare and captivating crested form of the already stunning Aeonium 'Pink Witch', a cultivar believed to have originated from Micronesia and derived from Aeonium 'Blushing Beauty'. While the regular form displays symmetrical rosettes that flush with true pink as the seasons progress, the crested form transforms this display into something even more extraordinary—developing broad, undulating fans of twisted growth that ripple with variegated tones of green, cream, and vivid pink.
This slow-growing succulent begins modestly in the cooler months, often showing mostly pale green and white foliage with just a trace of pink at the margins. As temperatures rise and daylight increases, the colours deepen dramatically. In the crested form, these changes are intensified by the plant’s dense, ridge-like growth, creating bold brushstrokes of colour across its surface. The pink tones can become especially rich and saturated by late autumn, with summer sometimes lending deeper, duskier hues depending on light exposure and local climate.
Aeonium 'Pink Witch' Crest typically grows up to 40 cm tall and forms sculptural clusters that look almost hand-sculpted. It prefers bright, indirect light and benefits from some protection during intense summer heat in Australian gardens. Like most Aeoniums, it favours well-draining, gritty soil and enjoys a rest period during the hotter months. Propagation is most successful in spring using crest cuttings, which can root easily under the right conditions.
This cultivar’s unique fan-like form, seasonal colour shifts, and environmental responsiveness make it a striking architectural addition to pots, raised beds, or courtyard gardens.
