Echeveria ‘Prism’ Variegata is a striking variegated succulent prized for its compact, symmetrical rosettes and beautifully patterned foliage. Thick, fleshy leaves combine soft green to blue-green tones with irregular bands and streaks of cream, pale yellow and white, while pink to reddish margins add another layer of colour. Each plant develops its own individual variegation pattern, making mature specimens particularly interesting.
Appearance & Colour
The plump, ovate leaves are closely arranged into neat rosettes, with a gently keeled ridge running along the back of each leaf. Under favourable growing conditions, the lighter variegation contrasts beautifully against the cooler base colours, while increased light and cooler temperatures can encourage stronger pink and red tones along the margins and ridges. Colour and variegation will naturally vary between individual plants and through the seasons.
Growth & Flowering
Echeveria ‘Prism’ Variegata maintains a relatively compact growth habit, making it particularly well suited to decorative pots, succulent arrangements and collections where its unusual foliage can be appreciated at close range. Established plants may produce slender flower stems carrying small orange to reddish-orange, bell-shaped flowers, typically during the warmer growing period.
Growing Echeveria ‘Prism’ Variegata
Grow in a coarse, free-draining succulent potting mix and provide plenty of bright light to maintain compact growth and attractive colour. Morning sun or bright filtered light is ideal, particularly while plants are becoming accustomed to stronger conditions. The pale variegated sections contain less chlorophyll and can be more susceptible to scorching, so protect plants from sudden exposure to intense summer afternoon sun.
Water thoroughly when the potting mix is dry, allowing excess water to drain freely. Avoid keeping the roots continually damp, particularly during cool or wet weather. Protect from heavy frost and prolonged freezing conditions. With its compact form, substantial leaves and constantly changing combination of cream, green, pink and red, Echeveria ‘Prism’ Variegata makes a distinctive addition to an Australian succulent collection.
