Conceived by Max Holmes in 1990, Graptoveria 'Accolade' is a splendid hybrid succulent, derived from the parent plants Graptopetalum superbum and Echeveria globulosa, or possibly the Echeveria hybrid ‘Vincent Catto’, often mistaken as E. globulosa. This plant distinguishes itself with its compact and cohesive rosette structure that spans up to 8 cm in diameter, adorned with more than 40 paddle-shaped leaves with a mesmerising glaucous blue-green bloom.

A noteworthy feature of the leaves is their slight upturn, concluding in a pointed end adorned with a dark pink line - a touch of charm to an already impressive foliage. The plant boasts the ability to readily produce offsets on stems that are about 5 mm thick and roughly 30 mm long, contributing to its ease of propagation and growth.

Graptoveria 'Accolade' stands out with its near stemless nature for an extended period, evolving into a dense clump, exuding an appealing compact aura. Its dazzling colours reach their peak during the cooler months under strong light conditions.

As spring approaches, Graptoveria 'Accolade' unfurls its floral splendour. The blossoming starts a touch earlier than its parent plants, producing an abundance of flowers during the Australian October and November months. The inflorescence is a pleasant blend of its parentage, showcasing several branches with significantly more flowers than the Echeveria parent. Each peduncle is adorned with plump bracts about 12 mm long, and the flowers have a soft pink exterior, contrasting with the light yellow interior adorned with subtle reddish spots at the petal tips.

This hybrid is an effortless keeper, thriving in a variety of conditions. It's a relatively novel introduction, hence not commonly seen in hybridizing efforts, rendering it a special addition to any plant collection. With the ability to propagate easily from leaves, bracts, or rosettes during the cooler months, it's an excellent pick for gardening enthusiasts of all levels.

To sum up, Graptoveria 'Accolade' embodies the quintessence of hybrid succulents, showcasing a compact rosette structure, a profusion of vibrant flowers, and the ease of cultivation. This unique combination of features makes it an invaluable gem in any plant collection.
