Rebutia 'Paradisian Pink' is a compact Rebutia hybrid grown primarily for its remarkable display of large pink flowers. The relatively small cactus body forms rounded to short cylindrical heads covered with fine, closely arranged spines, while established plants gradually develop additional heads and form attractive clusters. When flowering strongly, the blooms can almost overwhelm the plant beneath them.

Large Pink Flowers on a Compact Cactus

The flowers are exceptionally large in proportion to the individual cactus heads and open in shades of clear pink through deeper coral-pink, often with subtly lighter or warmer tones towards the centre. The numerous narrow petals surround a contrasting cluster of pale yellow stamens.

One of the characteristics we particularly value in 'Paradisian Pink' is its capacity to flower abundantly. Mature, well-grown plants can produce numerous buds around the sides of the heads, with several flowers opening together to create a substantial display from a comparatively small plant. Flowering is seasonal and the number of flowers produced will depend on the maturity of the plant and its growing conditions.

Clumping Growth & Fine Spination

'Paradisian Pink' begins as a compact head and can gradually produce offsets around the base, developing into a multi-headed cluster as it matures. Individual heads remain relatively small, allowing older plants to become increasingly substantial through the addition of new growth rather than the development of a single large stem.

The surface is divided into small tubercles carrying numerous fine radial spines. These closely arranged spines give the cactus a softly textured appearance and provide an effective neutral background for the much larger, brightly coloured flowers.

Growing Rebutia 'Paradisian Pink'

In our nursery we have found 'Paradisian Pink' to be a hardy and reliable small cactus that grows readily under normal cactus conditions. Grow in a free-draining cactus and succulent mix with good airflow and plenty of light. Adequate light helps maintain compact growth and is important for good flowering performance.

Water thoroughly during active growth when required, allowing the growing medium to dry appropriately between waterings. Keep considerably drier during cold periods when growth has slowed. As with many compact mountain cacti, good drainage and avoiding prolonged cold, wet conditions are particularly important.

Offsets can be separated from established clusters when sufficiently developed and propagated individually. They can also be left attached, allowing the plant to develop naturally into a larger multi-headed specimen capable of carrying an increasing number of flowers.

Seasonal Colour & Plant Variation

Succulents naturally change in colour, size and form throughout the year. Many develop richer colours and more compact growth during periods of seasonal stress, particularly through cooler months and brighter conditions, while warmer or lower-light conditions may produce greener, softer growth.

The plant you receive may therefore vary from the product images depending on the season, its stage of growth and current growing conditions. These natural variations are part of the character of living plants and do not affect their quality or health.

Pickup is available in Seville, Yarra Valley VIC by appointment. Order online as normal and any shipping charge will be automatically refunded after collection, unless you would prefer to receive an additional plant of similar value instead.
